search for 'redmine' gives 404 page, other searches work fine
Reported by Grant Rodgers | July 16th, 2008 @ 12:59 PM
This is pretty weird. If you search for 'redmine' or 'redmin', the search comes back as a 404:
http://github.com/search?q=redmine
http://github.com/search?q=redmin
But any other search (that I've tried) works fine.
UPDATE: acts_as_state_machin[e] and machin[e] give the same behavior. Might be a problem with the stemming of 'ine'?
The 404 may only occur when there would be at least one result of the search. 'bluemine' and 'dine' work fine (and return zero results). 'brine' is curious because it works and also returns one result.

I've also been burned by the 'jquery' search. Possibly related, the search index also seems to be out of sync between different searches.
See this screenshot demonstrating the problem:

This has to do with our reindexing frequency. We're bumping it up to avoid this issue.
