Cannot download projects

Any time I click on the download button for a project, I get this message:
"This repo is too large to generate a tarball. Please file a bug report."
I get this message even when trying to download just the app directory of a rails project, so I don't think there is a size issue.

Hello defunkt,
I'm able to download the tarball from http://github.com/defunkt/facebox
but not from:
http://github.com/andmej/acm/tre...
The bug still persists.

The download button for the defunkt project works, but clicking download in other projects result in archives with missing files. This example has no subdirectories:

The new release added a zip download option that works perfectly, but the tar is still not adding all files in the project to the archive.
Example:
http://github.com/technoweenie/r...
-Click the download button
-Select "TAR"
-The tar will only contain files in the project root.

The TAR problem is with git-archive and only happens for some clients. It won't work until the Git guys fix git-archive -- this is why we added the Zip download.
