in-page file edit to create and send patch
Reported by Dr Nic | August 13th, 2008 @ 09:20 PM
If you haven't forked a repo or don't have commit rights then you can't edit a file via github UI, which makes perfect sense.
Sometimes you just see a typo you just need to fix. Damn it - its just there within reach.
Currently you'd either clone + fix + send a patch, or (what I do) is fork, clone + fix + "pull request".
A system for editing by non-committers that creates patches instead of commits would be awesome.

A mini fork of sorts... that's a really cool idea. Let anyone edit, but if you don't have commit rights, it generates a patch or maybe forks and commits into your fork for you.
I say we dub this "sporking" since it's "not quite a real fork"
